dvd2daph
This is the *original* handy little tool to convert Digital
Leisure's Dragon's Lair and Space Ace DVDs into a format compatible with
the Daphne Emulator.
Announcement
There is now no question that the
20th anniversary box set is the DVD set to own for use with
Daphne. It is the only way to play the prototype mode of Dave
Hallock's DLE 2.0 without one of Mike Fox's sold-out limited edition
laserdiscs. You'll get the prototype footage and the first-ever
correct inverse telecine for Dragon's Lair. Future inverse
telecine scripts for Space Ace and Dragon's Lair 2 are likely to be
released for these DVDs before any of the older ones.
dvd2daph 3.0
2.04 users only need to upgrade if you are switching to the 20th
Anniversary DVD-Video Box Set. If you have the box set, you should
definitely switch.
The protoype footage should still be
considered in beta. However, I am confident that the video files
will not need to be changed in the future. Any tweaks that may be
necessary will be to the framefile, which is easily replaceable.
Look here for future updates. Please report any strangeness you
may find. I am particulary interested in hearing reports of any of
the clapboard frames that may be visible in the prototype footage.
You can find my email address in my profile on the daphne message board.
.avs scripts will be accepted for any
of the dvd releases, should you choose to write and submit them.
I don't have time to write them for each disc right now. Only
professional, tested, and compared-to-LD scripts will be
accepted. See the included scripts for the Dragon's Lair 20th
Anniversary disc for an example.
download dvd2daph 3.0 and usage instructions in the USA.
Once downloaded, unzip while preserving the directory structure and
read "dvd2daph.txt" for instruction.
Mirrors are welcome and will be listed here if provided.
Optional Media
For a more authentic experience, Dragon's Lair DVD-Rom 1.10 owners
should download a missing scene contained within the following file.
*1.0 owners DO NOT need this file*. If you have not yet performed
your conversion, simply place this file in your "tools" folder before
starting dvd2daph. If your conversion is already finished, simply
extract the files and replace them in your DLDVDROM directory.
Download it in
the USA.

vid2daph - The add-on to the original dvd2daph that allows you to convert Digital Leisure's Dragon's Lair DVD-Video. dvd2daph 2.04c (or earlier) also required. The fuctionality of this program is now included in dvd2daph 3.0, but is left here for nostalgic purposes. The original homepage no longer exists. Local mirror.
dl2daph - a
standalone utility to convert Dragon's Lair video files from Digital
Leisure's Deluxe Pack CD-Rom to daphne's format. Local mirror.
convvid2daph - a standalone
utility which hacks dvd2daph together with the above programs and
includes (in my opinion) inferior Inverse Telecine and de-interlace
scripts. Many people have reported problems with convvid2daph, as
it is usually not very well tested, and relies on you manually combining
different programs. You have been warned. But, feel free to
try it and judge for yourself. :) No local mirror, as there
are many separate convid2daph files. Visit the homepage for more
info.
